Smart Grid in Puducherry - A Reality

Electric Vehicle

Plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) utilizes rechargeable batteries that can be restored to full charge by connecting it to the external electric power source. In Puducherry, such vehicle in past had been deployed which has been discontinued due to lack of maintenance support. It is proposed that PEV may be reintroduced with adequate charging infrastructures at strategic locations such as parking lots, markets etc. with remotely monitored pre paid meters using AMI.
